Symptoms


External users unable to access File Share when using User Share Method. There could be many reasons to why external users fail to view or access the file links and shares. Please review the scenarios below.

 Use the following workflow to determine the potential cause

User sharing method requires an external user to register an account before accessing the file share for the first time

Step 1

File cloud user Shares a link using User sharing method.

Step 2

The System sends a welcome because target email never logged into the File Share before.


Service fails to send an email due to technical reasons

Step 3

External user’s email service provider receives the welcome email.

 

Target email service provider rejects the welcome mail for reasons or unknown reasons

Step 4

Welcome email delivers, goes to target email inbox.

 

 

Welcome email lands in User Junk Folder

User clicks the welcome email to register an external account for the first time.

 

 

 


User missed / forgot about the welcome email/registration or struggles with the registration.

Step 6

User clicks the share link and logins in.

 

 

 

User struggles with logging in due to password issues or other technical issues

 

Step 7

External user views the shared file or folder.

 

 

 

 

User fails to access fail due to the one of many reasons:

  • Limited downloads allowed set by the user
