Overview

How to install Citrix Receiver for Windows.

Scope of This How To Article

This article applies to Windows 7, WIndows 8 and Windows 10

Pre-Requisite and Requirements

Internet and local admin access on local workstation.


Additional Information

This installation is for Microsoft Windows Operating Systems Only. On older version of Citrix Receiver/Workspace, you would sometimes have to use the Citrix Cleanup Tool. This is now part of the Workspace install, so it is no longer necessary.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Install Citrix Workspace (Latest Release)
  2. Install Citrix Workspace (LTSR)
  3. Install Citrix Receiver (Old Release)

How to Install Citrix Workspace (Latest Release) for Windows

This is for the latest release. On NIRIX Equipment, we install the LTSR. Follow that guide for NIRIX Managed Equipment instead. Customers can opt for that as well, if they want less frequent updates.

Open a browser and navigate to:

Click Download Citrix Workspace app for Windows.

Note that the latest version no longer supports Windows 7. If you need to install Citrix on a Windows 7 machine, you can use LTSR 1912 from the link below instead.

1.3Once the download completes, open the file by clicking it in the bottom left corner of your browser (assuming you are using Chrome or Chromium Edge).

If you get a UAC pop-up, click Yes to continue.

1.4Click Start to begin the installation process.

1.5Make sure to select the checkbox for I accept the license agreement and click Next.

Click Install to begin the installation process.

** NOTE: I do not enable app protection, it could interfere with our remote support

Wait for the installation to complete, and then click Finish.

Restart the computer.

When the computer restarts, it will come up with this screen. If they use our web portal to sign in, click Do not show this window automatically at sign-in and then Close.

How to Install Citrix Workspace LTSR for Windows

The Long Term Service Release will have fewer updates, and is supposed to be more stable.

Open a browser and navigate to:

https://www.citrix.com/downloads/workspace-app/

Find Workspace app for Windows Long Term Service Release and expand it. Click the link below it to got to the download page.

1.2Click Download Citrix Workspace app for Windows.

Open the folder where the file was downloaded to, and open a command prompt. Run the following command:

citrixworkspaceapp.exe /AutoUpdateCheck=Auto /AutoUpdateStream=LTSR /DeferUpdateCount=0 /silent /noreboot


1.4Once the install is finished, restart the computer.

How to Install Citrix Receiver (Old version)

Open a web browser and goto the following site

https://www.citrix.com/downloads/citrix-receiver/

Expand Receiver for Windows (At the very top which should be the latest version) , and then Click Receiver for Windows again, and then click on Receiver 4.xx Windows Link to download the client program.


1.3Click "Download file"


1.4Once the download finishes, you should be able to see the setup file “CitrixReceiver.exe” on the bottom left corner (If you are using Chrome), click the file to launch the setup program

Step 3) Click on the setup file and run it

Click “Start”



1.7Select “I accept the license agreement” and then click “Next”


1.8Click "Next"


1.9Select “No Thanks” and click “Next”


1.10The program will now start to install, let it finish and proceed to the next step


1.11Click “finish” to complete the installation
