Overview

To outline starting up and walking through a customer/client through starting an AnyDesk session on their MacOS device.

Scope of This How To Article

This article has been mostly recently tested on MacOS Catalina version 10.15.7, on 1/11/2021, but has been tested on varying version of MacOS.

Pre-Requisite and Requirements

  • Internet access
  • MacOS-based device (Macbook, iMac, etc.)

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Installing AnyDesk on a MacOS device

Using Safari, go to AnyDesk.com, and download the Mac version of AnyDesk.

1.2Click on the downloads button, and then double click on anydesk.dmg.

1.3It will then open anydesk.dmg.

1.4Double click on AnyDesk

1.5Depending on the security settings, you may have to click Open to allow the Mac to have permission to open the file.

AnyDesk will open. At this point you can remote in through the number listed under This Desk.

Enter this number on our side to start the session. 


1.7The end user will see this pop up asking for permission to start the session. Have them click Accept.

There may be permissions that still need to be set to allow you to use the keyboard and mouse.

Have the user click Configure.

This will bring up the Security and Privacy menu. 

Have the end user click the Lock at the bottom left. 

1.10They will have to enter their local Mac username and password so they can make changes. Then click Unlock.

Now the apps will no longer be greyed out. 

Get the end user to click the checkbox beside AnyDesk. 


1.12The Security & Privacy menu can now be closed. You should now be able to control their Mac

1.13If you need additional permissions, you can set them in the Security & Privacy screen. 

Step 1.0 - Installing AnyDesk on a MacOS Device (Alternate)

1.1Using Safari, go to AnyDesk.com, and download the Mac version of AnyDesk.

1.2Once the download has completed, in the top-right corner, open the .dmg file that was just downloaded.

1.3After opening the file, double click on the AnyDesk icon in the window that pops up, which will then allow you to launch AnyDesk from the MacOS Dock at the bottom.

1.4If prompted by the following window, click on ‘Open’ to launch AnyDesk.

1.5With AnyDesk open, on the right-hand side, click on ‘Configure’.

After clicking configure, a new window will appear. Click on the padlock to be able to make the necessary changes – it’ll require the device’s username and password.

Then, under the Accessibility, Full Disk Access, and Screen Recording tabs on the Security and Privacy window, enable AnyDesk for all three tabs.

The changes documented above are specific to the NIRIX Shared Hosting Environment only.
