Steps

There should be no data lost during this process, but it is best practice to have a backup of your data available in case something gets overwritten or lost in the process. Please make sure you have a backup available in case of data loss.

1.3

In the Overview tab, click the connection icon. While hovering over it, it should say Unregister.

1.4

Read the warning and click Unregister. This will not remove files from the local PC, or the cloud storage, it just stops the sync between the two.

1.5

You can close the oneFileSync agent now.

2.1

Click on the oneFileSync icon to open it.

2.2

Click Sign in here to get started.

2.3

Enter your account information, and click Next.

2.4

If the oneFileSync folder was created in the default location (C:\Users\Username\oneFileSync) you can leave Default Destination selected.

Otherwise, click Select destination. Click Next.

2.5

Click Browse.

2.6

Select the folder that is synced with oneFileSync. oneFileSync automatically appends oneFileSync to the path. If the oneFileSync store is C:\Users\Username\oFS-TU1\oneFileSync, select C:\Users\Username\oFS-TU1 and click Select Folder. As you can see in this image below, within the folder we are selecting, there is already a oneFileSync folder. If we were to select that folder, then it would create another store at C:\Users\Username\oFS-TU1\oneFileSync\oneFileSync, which we usually do not want.

If you select the wrong folder, all the files will be downloaded to the new location from the oneFileSync server. If you have any questions, feel free to reach our to our support team.

2.7

I had selected C:\Users\Username\oFS-TU1, and oneFileSync automatically added the oneFileSync to the path.

Click Next.

2.8

You should see a warning that a non-empty folder named “oneFileSync” already exists. If you don’t get this warning, the old oneFileSync root isn’t found. If you continue a new sync folder will be created, and the folders from the cloud will download to the new store. The old store will remain untouched.

If all is good, click Merge to continue. If there are files that exist in both the cloud and local machine, but have been modified since disabling the sync, there will be conflicts, which we will resolve later.

2.9

Leave Select what to sync to this device now selected, and click Next.

2.10

If you want all data to be stored on the local computer, leave Select All Items selected. Otherwise, just select the folders you want to be downloaded.

Click Next when done.

2.11

The agent will sync all the data between the cloud and the local. If there are conflicts, you can see how to resolve this in the next step.

Click Finish.

3.1

If there are conflicts or errors, the oneFileSync agent will have a yellow exclamation mark on it. Click on it to open.

3.2

On the bottom left of the agent, you will see the number of collisions noted. Click on it for more details.

3.3

You will see a list of collisions. To resolve the collision, click Resolve.

3.4

You can choose to Rename the local file, so the changes are not lost, or you can Discard the changes. If you use discard, the local file will be overwritten by the cloud version. Unless you have a backup of that file, the changes will not be able to be recovered.

If you use Rename, it will automatically rename the file, and both versions will be synced across the service.

3.5

Here is an example of how a conflict file will look after renaming.

The changes documented above are specific to the NIRIX Shared Hosting Environment only.
